Stalybridge Celtic 2-2 Bradford (Park Avenue)

Sean McConville scored a late equaliser to deny Bradford (Park Avenue) their first win in The Skrill North at the Bower Fold.

John Deacey was forced into making two changes to his starting eleven. Alex Davidson (foot) and Nicky Boshell (hamstring) were ruled out and replaced by Charlie Clamp and Tom Corner.

The Avenue conceded an early goal. A missed header from centre back James Knowles saw Conal Platt find Sean McConville, and his first time strike went into the top corner from 18 yards.

A free kick won by Richard Marshall was scored by the same player. The Avenue midfielder struck a low effort that was deflected into the bottom corner past goalkeeper Matty Urwin.

The away side came close to taking the lead again. A cross from Platt found the unmarked Adam Pepper inside the penalty area, but his shot went straight into the hands of John Lamb.

In an entertaining start to the game, the Avenue nearly scored a second goal.

Firstly, a deep corner found Paul Walker who struck a left-footed effort wide from 20 yards. A minute later, a cross from Marshall found Chilaka, but his effort forced Urwin into a good save.

The Avenue wasted a good opportunity to take the lead. Following good work from Walker, his left-footed cross was nodded wide by the unmarked Chilaka from 10 yards.

After the break, the Avenue created the first opportunity. A long ball from Knowles was flicked by Corner to Chilaka, and his cross found Clamp, but the midfielder was unable to keep his effort down.

With the travelling Avenue supporters behind the goal their side were attacking, they saw Chilaka’s right-footed effort from 14 yards pushed away by Urwin.

Chib Chilaka was alert inside the penalty area to give the away side the lead. The Avenue left back Jason St Juste received a pass from Corner, but his attempts were blocked by Urwin and Chilaka tapped home from close range.

With five minutes remaining, Sean McConville equalised for the home side. A free kick conceded by Ross Daly allowed Callum Warburton to deliver the ball into the penalty area and McConville scored his second goal of the afternoon.
