Ryan: 'The Lads Were Brilliant'

After the 1-0 win at FC Halifax Town, the Avenue’s recent signing Tim Ryan spoke to the official website.

The defender spoke highly of his new team mates after his recent move to the Horsfall Stadium:

‘John (Deacey) and Mark Hume have given myself the chance to play football which I took with open arms. Also, they were a team who are doing well previous to me being here. It wasn’t down to me, the lads were brilliant. We dug in, played football and defended well. The lads are buzzing.’

The former Stalybridge Celtic played/assistsnt manager commented on the winning goal from Richard Marshall:

‘Obviously it was a fantastic strike from Scooby, I was behind it and the goalkeeper didn’t move. It’s against his former club in a derby so he was pleased in there.’

Following the dismissal of Aiden Savory, the experienced centre back could not hide his delight after late pressure from the Shaymen:

‘It was ten against ten, they had some emphasis to press us and our goalkeeper has made some good saves. But we kept it tight and are happy with a clean sheet as a back four and the goalkeeper.’

With a busy schedule ahead, Ryan is hoping to be selected for the Avenue:

‘If selected I will play wherever the manager plays me! Obviously, we have players returning like (Jamie) Pricey returning from suspension soon.
