Robbie O'Brien Departs

Rob O'Brien

Midfielder Robbie O’Brien has announced that he is to leave Bradford Park Avenue this summer after four years with the club.

Robbie moved to the Horsfall in the summer of 2009 from Ossett Town and went on to become a key player in his first season making 44 league and cup appearances whilst scoring 12 goals. His second season was disrupted as he picked up a foot injury in pre-season which ruled him out until the New Year, however he went on to finish the season strongly. He then went on to play an important role in helping the club secure a place in the Conference North via a play-off win against FC United of Manchester in 2012. His final season at Avenue saw him spend the second half of it on loan at Farsley AFC a club who he is set to join on a permanent basis. Besides the promotion his other club highlight was playing in the FA Cup First Round match against Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium in November 2012.

Bradford (Park Avenue) would like to thank Robbie for all his efforts and wish him every success in his new challenge at Farsley.

On his departure Robbie had this to say:

“Before the rumour mill starts to get going I wanted to let you all know that with regret I will be leaving Bradford in the summer to start a new challenge at Farsley. I have had an amazing 4 years at the club and want to thank you all for your support over this period of time. I have made lasting friendships with players, fans and volunteers over the years and wish you all every success in the future and hope Park Avenue continue their progression through the Leagues.”

“From a personal point of view I feel the time is right to begin a new chapter in my playing career and am looking forward to the challenge of trying to bring Farsley back to the level that they belong in. It would be nice to see a few familiar faces down at Throstle Nest if you have a spare Saturday and I’m sure our paths will cross again in the near future.”
