Qualter Delighted With Win

Following the 2-0 victory against Workington AFC at Borough Park, the Avenue defender Ryan Qualter spoke to the official website.

The centre-back was pleased to get back onto the coach with a victory:

“We’ve had two big defeats against two good teams in Altrincham FC and Brackley Town. Before that, we were on a run without conceding goals. We could’ve come here and thrown in the towel but we didn’t. It was tough conditions to play in but, we scored two really good goals, Wakka’s (Paul Walker) was a great strike and it was a good finish from Bees (Paul Beesley).”

After the recent defeats, Qualter highlighted the effort from everyone involved to get the win in Cumbria:

“Everything has put a performance in and played their part.”

The young defender will be suspended for the Avenue shortly after his dismissal at Altrincham FC, and Qualter is not used to sitting on the sidelines:

“I don’t think I’ve missed a game through injury or suspension for two and a half years. But, at least the lads will go into the next game with a clean sheet and a strong defensive performance.”

Already a popular player at the Horsfall Stadium, Qualter admitted he is loving life in the green and white of the Avenue:

“I’m really enjoying it. I’ve never played at this level before, but I feel I’ve come in and done myself justice. They are a great set of lads and we have to keep going. A mid-table finish isn’t bad, I know it’s not what the club wants though. So, we will work hard in pre-season and give it a go next season.”
