After the 2-1 win against Harrogate Town, former Town player Jamie Price, now part of the Avenue squad, spoke to the club’s official website.
The 32 year old admitted the three points were important:
“We needed that victory. I felt we dropped two points on Saturday but it’s been a good start. It was a great team effort, everyone put a shift in, including the substitutes who came on. It wasn’t pretty but it’s three points.”
The Avenue started well with an early goal from Martin Drury, and Price praised the popular left-back:
“Dru has great quality and he put us on the front foot. The lads were compact and worked hard for each other by covering around the pitch. Chib and Walker were brilliant for us up front.”
Many of the Avenue supporters were delighted to see their side occupy the top place in the Vanarama Conference North, and Price is too:
“Last year we lost two in a row so it’s nice to be sitting at the top of the league. We’ll see where we are at the end of the season!”
