Match Preview: Workington AFC

Bradford (Park Avenue) will be looking to win their second game in two days on Monday evening, as Workington AFC are the visitors to the Horsfall Stadium. (Kick off: 7.45pm)

The home side are currently in eight position, and have won their previous three matches. Also, the Avenue are unbeaten at their home ground in 2013, including a draw against Chester FC and victories against Solihull Moors, Vauxhall Motors and Corby Town. At the weekend, John Deacey’s men made the short trip to the Butchers Arms to face Droylsden. In an emphatic performance, Bradford thrashed the Bloods 7-0, which included a penalty save from popular goalkeeper John Lamb. Prior to kick off, John Deacey will check the fitness of his son Jordan, who was withdrawn at half time on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Bradford manager is hoping for the return of Matty James to his squad.

Workington AFC make the long trip to avoid a similar result that they suffered against Bradford. Earlier in the season, an entertaining first half saw both sides level at the break. However, the second half was a different story as the Avenue hammered the Reds 6-1 at Borough Park. Nonetheless, Darren Edmondson’s side have recorded some impressive results in recent weeks. The visitors managed to defeat playoff contenders Altrincham and hold league leaders Chester FC at home. But, the Reds suffered defeat on Saturday, as they lost to a late winner against Gloucester City, which has seen Workington occupy 17th position before kick off.
