Match Preview: Stalybridge Celtic

Following a successful 2012, Bradford (Park Avenue) end the year with an away trip to Bower Fold to face Stalybridge Celtic. (Kick off: 3.00pm)

The home side led by Jim Harvey will be looking to repeat their earlier performance in the season to make it back to back wins against Bradford. The Celts travelled to the Horsfall Stadium in September, and produced a fine display to see off the Avenue; 3-1, ending a run of five unbeaten games for the men from West Yorkshire. Since then, Jim Harvey’s side have suffered mixed results which has seen them occupy 13th place. Nonetheless, the Celts are unbeaten in two league games, after recording an impressive victory at Gainsborough Trinity, and secondly, earning a draw at home to Altrincham on Boxing Day.

The Avenue will be hoping to replicate their recent performances, whilst improving the result. Despite not scoring in three matches, John Deacey’s men have played some entertaining football which has earned praise from certain opposition supporters. Nevertheless, with no points from a possible nine available, Bradford have slipped to sixth in the Blue Square Bet North. Also, the Avenue manager will have to shuffle his squad, as Nathan Hotte begins his four match suspension, and, Jordan Deacey starts his first of a two match ban. However, the Avenue have been boosted by the return of Ross Daly, Adam Clayton and Jamie Jackson, who have returned from their respective loan spells. Furthermore, Jordan Snodin has been brought in from Championship outfit Leeds United on a month’s loan to add competition for places within the squad.
