Match Preview: Kidderminster Harriers

On Sunday afternoon, Bradford Park Avenue welcome high-flying Kidderminster Harriers in the FA Cup with Budweiser Fourth Round Qualifying at the Horsfall Stadium. (Kick-off: 3.00pm)

The Avenue will be looking to make it through to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup with Budweiser for the third consecutive year. John Deacey’s men will enter the tie boasting a 12 match unbeaten record in all competitions, following the 2-2 draw at Colwyn Bay in last week’s league clash. Also, the squad has been boosted with a recent addition as Simon Lenighan arrives from Leeds United on a short term loan deal.

The visitors, who currently sit second in The Skrill Premier, one league above their opponents, have also shown great form so far this season and will be hoping to put an end to Bradford’s unbeaten run.

To reach the Fourth Round Qualifying stage, the Avenue have won two previous games. In September, John Deacey’s side made the short trip to face Guiseley AFC, and defeated the Lions 2-1. In the previous round of the famous cup competition, the Avenue fought back from conceding a second half goal to seal a spirited 2-1 victory over Penrith AFC at the Horsfall Stadium.

Speaking to Avenue manager John Deacey, he explained how he looks forward to the tough challenge:

“It’s a good test for the players to see how we do. When you get put up against the best, you put a marker down for the players to see what they can do. We go in there as massive underdogs but we’ll put in a performance and try and make Bradford Park Avenue proud of its team.”

Nathan Hotte, the Avenue captain, understands the difficulty of the task but remains optimistic about his team’s chances:

“We couldn’t have had much of a harder draw to be honest, but I’m looking forward to it. I don’t think we’re scared of playing anyone really. Hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves and get the result we all want.”

Prior to kick-off on Sunday, the FA Cup with Budweiser First Round Proper draw will take place. Bradford (Park Avenue) or Kidderminster Harriers are number 53.
