The Avenue goalscorer Richard Marshall spoke to Press Officer Lewis Sale, after the 3-1 defeat to Stafford Rangers in the FA Carlsberg Trophy.
The Avenue’s midfielder admitted it was a poor performance at Marston Road:
‘It was not one of the best games. It is hard to play against them, we found that out last year. They get ten men behind the ball and defend, and then catch us on the counter attack which is disappointing.’
After receiving praise from his manager, Marshall said the squad have to concentrate on the Blue Square Bet North:
‘I think we have a long way to go yet. Obviously, we wanted to get quite far in this competition, but, now we can focus on the league. It’s back to business now.’
Nonetheless, the midfielder scored another long range effort, despite, the ball never finding the back of the net:
‘The linesman said it was over!’
