The Avenue goalkeeper John Lamb spoke to the official website after the 2-1 defeat to Oxford City.
The popular number one felt he was partly to blame for the second goal:
‘I’m angry with myself for my role in the second goal. Instead of trying to punch the ball, I should’ve tried to catch it. If I managed to catch it, we might have had a chance to get down the other end of the pitch. I feel that I could’ve been better.’
Meanwhile, Lamb admits his side have work to do to put pressure on the playoff contenders:
‘The result was not what we wanted. We have a mountain to climb but we have to remain confident and get as many points before the end of the season.
Also, the Avenue goalkeeper is hoping players can shake off any injury worries to improve the Avenue’s chances to reach the playoffs:
‘Because of postponements, we have played a lot of games recently. Some of the lads are picking up knocks but we have to keep on going and we have to try and get back on track on Wednesday against Oxford City.’
