For 45 minutes, Bradford captain James Knowles was goalkeeper, as the centre defender stood in for the injured Tim Deasy. The popular defender spoke to Press Officer Lewis Sale.
With Deasy nursing a injury, it was the captain who stood up and put the gloves on:
‘With not having a substitute goalkeeper, it was a matter of who would do it. I don’t think John (Deacey) wanted me in there and I was nervous!’
Despite only conceding two goals, the captain stressed the need to score goals to win games:
‘It’s the same story from Saturday, we have to take our chances, they did not have a shot in the first half. Their goalkeeper had a fantastic game and pulled off numerous saves, keeping them in the game in the first half. We have to make sure we put the opposition out of sight, you can’t get away with it in this league.’
