Jackson: 'I Want To Play'

Despite the defeat to Guiseley AFC, the Avenue fans saw the return of pre-season signing Jamie Jackson, as the former Worksop Town man continues to recover from a hamstring problem.

Jackson, speaking to the club’s official website, had mixed emotions about his return to action:

‘It’s been a nightmare start for me. It was 90 minutes under my belt since the 18th August, but, I’m not happy with our performance. Obviously the result was not acceptable. We got rightly told off at half time, and I think we came back out and produced a bit of pride in the second half.’

The winger was injured on the opening day, and has been a frustrated figure around the Horsfall Stadium, but, Jackson has worked hard to reach match-fitness:

‘I’m not one to mess about, I want to play. It has happened, but, I want to get back, it’s in the past, I want to strengthen up and start my season now.’

At the same time, the trip to Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup awaits the Avenue, and the Bradford forward admits that his side need to focus:

‘It is in the back of our minds, but, we have games before that. We have to concentrate on those first, like ‘Humey’ said in the dressing room; the draw is great, but, it will not be acceptable to let our form dip because we have an eye on that. We are a good set of lads and we know what we can do. We will deal with that when it arrives.’
