Hume: 'A Good Team Performance'

Following the 4-0 victory against Boston United, the Avenue assistant manager Mark Hume spoke to the official website.

After the win, Hume was pleased with the attitude of his players:

‘We were the better side and the scoreline suggested that. Through the game, we kept the ball really well and we managed to finish it off at the end. Previous to today, they won three tough fixtures, I don’t think many teams will go there and win 4-0.’

Also, the assistant manager believed the tactics used against Boston United worked well:

‘We played with Alex (Davidson) down the middle, and both (Paul) Walker and (Michael) Duckworth on the wings. This allowed us to have full pace at their back line which they couldn’t handle. It worked great for us.’

Meanwhile, John Deacey’s number two admitted it was difficult to pick out individual praise:

‘People will look at Alex Davidson and he will get the plaudits for scoring a hat trick, but it was a good team performance. Jordan (Deacey) and (Nathan) Hotte were good in the middle of the park, and (James) Knowles was solid as usual.’

Making his debut for Bradford (Park Avenue) was young striker Adam Baker, on loan from Bradford City and Hume said he is a welcome addition:

‘Adam adds something different to us. He will freshen things up, especially with two of our players gaining match fitness on loan at Farsley AFC.’

Looking ahead, Hume hopes the victory will build confidence for the weekend:

‘It sets it up nicely now, but we take every game as it happens!’
