Following the 2-1 defeat to Bishop’s Stortford, the Avenue captain Nathan Hotte spoke to the official website.
The midfielder was disappointed with the performance and result:
‘We were in control until they scored. We did not have an answer in the second half. We stopped playing and we do not play direct football. We gave them a lift before half time, and if we were 1-0 at half time, it might have been different.’
Meanwhile, the Bradford captain made no excuses for the defeat to Bishop’s Stortford, and is hoping to finish the season with two victories:
‘It’s been a long season, but it is the same for them and everyone else. We have to finish on a high. It’s not been a bad season, not many people would have fancied us for a chance to reach the playoffs but we did.’
Already, Hotte is wanting an improvement from his side for next season:
‘Obviously we have suffered injuried to players like Alex Davidson and Martin Drury, and we lost James Knowles. We have a good team but we struggle if we get injuries. If we have a bigger squad next season, there will be competition for places, and hopefully we can be better than this year.’
