Drury: 'We Will Never Give In'

After the first defeat of the season, Bradford (Park Avenue) left back Martin Drury spoke to the club’s official website:

‘It is very disappointing, we knew they would be a good side and they would be fit. But, we had enough chances to get a few goals. It killed us a bit going down to ten men, but, Jordan (Deacey) is only young and he will learn, he knows that. We look forward to the next game, and knuckle down in training, and get a couple of players back from injury.’

Drury, who has been one of the longest serving players at the Horsfall Stadium, admits there is a positive atmosphere within the dressing room:

‘One thing about this team is there is a lot of belief, We are in it together. The team spirit is first class, the gaffer (John Deacey) and Humey (Mark Hume) have got us a nice tight squad, and we will fight for each other, we will never give in, and keep battling away!’

After six games, Bradford have lost only one game, but, the left back would have preferred more victories:

‘It’s not a bad start, but, we do set the bar high. We are disappointed we haven’t won more, and the main thing for me is to start keeping clean sheets. As a team we need to work harder to keep clean sheets, because that’s the way to win games.’

Finally, the defender is looking forward to a second consecutive home game on Saturday:

‘It’s a tough game, but, for me, I don’t care who we play, we don’t fear anybody and hopefully we can get three points.’
