Deacey: 'We Were Very Very Unlucky'

Bradford (Park Avenue) remain unbeaten in the Blue Square Bet North after a 1-1 draw against FC Halifax Town at the Horsfall Stadium on Monday.

The Bradford manager John Deacey was frustrated by errors during the game:

‘I said in the dressing room after, if we take away our silly mistakes, they didn’t create anything. I mean, Knowlesy (James Knowles) slipping for the goal, a back-pass by Adam Clayton and a silly back header by Knowlesy again. We really restricted them, but, they are a very good side. I think if you finish above them, you’ll get promoted.’

Nevertheless, Deacey saw plenty of positives from the draw:

‘We responded fantastic. We were very very unlucky not to come away with the three points. We were wanting a reaction, we got the goal at the right time, and again, I thought (Nathan) Hotte and Jordan (Deacey) were excellent. Also, Michael Duckworth grew into the game, (Martin) Drury was solid, and Paul Walker was excellent in the second half. It was a great game with a good crowd.’

But, the Bradford manager has to deal with a number of injuries, with a further addition on Monday:

‘(Nathan) Hotte is struggling. We have five key players out, we didn’t have Jamie Jackson, Alex Davidson and Matty James. We, may, have to bring someone in for next week.’
