Deacey: 'We Were Excellent'

Following their 0-0 draw to league leaders Chester FC, John Deacey spoke to the waiting media at the Horsfall Stadium.

The Avenue manager was full of praise for his side and goalkeeper John Lamb:

‘We were excellent today showing plenty of character. Also, Lamby answered a few critics, I had faith in him, I show my loyalty in people and he was outstanding today.’

Also, the Bradford boss was pleased with the effort of both individuals and the team to hold Chester FC to a second draw of the season:

‘I thought both Duckworth and Jordan were outstanding. I have to say that Knowles was excellent too, I cannot remember him putting a foot wrong. We have done well against them (Chester FC), I think we have deserved that result with our performances over the past five weeks. The lads have worked so hard which I’m pleased with.’

Meanwhile, Deacey is closely monitoring the situation of his injured players. With Alex Davidson a new injury worry, goalkeeper Tim Deasy is due an operation in midweek. However, left back Martin Drury was named on the bench after his knee operation:

‘Alex will have an x ray on his foot, it could be a real blow. We had Dru on the bench, and, we have a friendly in midweek, so he can get 90 minutes, and we will see where we will go from there.’
