Following his side’s 2-1 victory against Boston United, John Deacey spoke to the waiting media at the Horsfall Stadium.
The Bradford manager bemoaned the errors that continue to plague the Avenue’s performances this year, despite, being pleased with the result:
‘It was a good performance, but, we were very slack for the first 25 minutes of the second half. I felt we let them back into the game, and we need to learn from our mistakes every week. We are giving possession away in silly areas, and taking risks in the final third, some other teams don’t seem to do that! It was a good win, and our first at home, and we needed that. We have won two in a row, and we need to build on it.’
However, Deacey was happy to see Matty James score the winner, and, the manager praised the efforts of Tim Deasy after making some heroic saves:
‘The lad who got the winner, the substitute, I was going to sub him! But, he took the goal well and it will give him the confidence he needs. (Nathan) Hotte was a rock at the back, the back four have conceded too many, and I felt it needed tighten up there. (Liam) Needham did reasonably well, Jordan (Deacey) was on edge with his booking, but, he was influential. But, the goalkeeper was fantastic. He made some good saves, and it was a great save for the penalty.’
Next Saturday, John Deacey’s men will travel to Carlton Town in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round, and the manager is looking forward to the fixture:
‘I have never been there before, I’m looking forward to it!’
