Deacey Wants Improvement

Following the 3-2 victory against Hyde FC, Bradford (Park Avenue) manager John Deacey said there were positives to take away from the game:

“The amount of chances we created was unbelievable. We showed great character to comeback again, that’s seven times we’ve fallen behind this season.”

But, Deacey admits the number of goals the team are conceding is a concern:

“While the goals column is showing 11-10 it’s a worry because that’s a sign of a mid-table side. We might be near the top of the leading goal scorers in the league but we’re near the bottom with the number of goals we’ve conceded. We made three mistakes for their first goal. We’ve got to cut out the mistakes and punish ourselves.”

In the second half, Deacey and his assistant Mark Hume made two substitutions, and admits their substitutions helped the team win:

“We had to change it. We want to try and pick a squad that can do the job without me and Mark having to think of how to change things around. But we’ve got to positive, because we’ve got great character and teamwork here and it’s been a good start to the season.”
