Following the 2-1 defeat against AFC Telford United, the Avenue manager John Deacey praised the efforts of his team.
Having not played since 10 February, the visitors impressed many at the New Bucks Head with their performance including their own manager:
“The performance was magnificent. We have come here against the top of the league and created more chances and I think played the better football. We restricted them, to set-pieces and long throw-ins. I’ll take a lot of positives, but, Liam (Watson) is a great guy and AFC Telford United are doing well.”
After the match, Deacey was happy with the performances from all of his squad:
“We didn’t disgrace ourselves. I thought Jordan (Deacey), (Nicky) Boshell, (Paul) Walker and Chib (Chilaka) worked well together. The two midfielders, (Richard) Marshall and (Nathan) Hotte did well, so did the defence and (John) Lamb was commanding his area.”
With the recent arrival of Jimmy Eyles, the Avenue look a different team to the one that started the season at Leamington FC:
“We are trying to build the club for the future. I think it’s one of the best squads we have ever had at Bradford (Park Avenue). We try to play the game correctly because that’s the way I play.”
