Bradford (Park Avenue) recorded their third successive victory at Histon FC, and John Deacey spoke to the waiting media.
The Bradford manager was pleased with the result, and praised the Stutes’ effort:
‘It’s a good win, it’s another three points away from home again. I thought we started off superbly in the opening 20-25 minutes, and Histon FC bossed it for the next 15 minutes. I have to give full credit to Histon FC, for the way they approached and played the game. I hope they do well, they have a great attitude and the manager has them playing the game the correct way. If they play like that, I can see them getting out of the position they are in.’
At the same time, Deacey admitted his team had enough chances to score more goals:
‘They (Histon FC) had a bit of possession in the second half, but, they didn’t really threaten us in the second half. I thought we had three or four chances to finish it off. We try and play the game the correct way. Once it went to 3-0, they made life difficult for us.’
Commenting on his squad, Deacey was concerned about his left back Martin Drury, and singled out two individuals for praise:
‘I’m worried about Dru. We will have to assess Martin, and see what the situation is, but, it doesn’t look good. It’s a quick turnaround to play on Monday, we can’t do with any more injuries. I thought (Nathan) Hotte and (James) Knowles were exceptional today. Also, I thought Tom (Corner) showed good signs when he came on.’
