On Monday evening, Bradford (Park Avenue) were beaten 3-1 by Stalybridge Celtic, playing with the majority of the second half with ten men.
Despite the defeat, John Deacey paid tribute to the effort of his team:
‘I think we did well. In the first half, we weren’t at the races until we got our shape sorted. I thought in the second half, we were magnificent. We must have had 6-7 great chances, and with 11 men, who knows. I’m really pleased with the performance, and, we have to take the positives out of the game.’
After 48 minutes, the home side were reduced to ten men, as Jordan Deacey was shown his second yellow card of the game. However, his father admits his son will be disappointed:
‘Jordan is a 18 year old kid. I don’t think of him as my son when he is playing football! He will learn and we have to take it. He will be upset, thinking he has let the side down, but it will happen to all people.’
At the same time, Deacey is hoping to have several of his players returning for Saturday’s game against Brackley Town:
‘Matty James should be back, Alex (Davidson) and (Jamie) Jackson is close, he has been running at 50% tonight.’
