Following the 2-0 victory against Guiseley AFC, John Deacey was unhappy with the performance but pleased with the final result.
The Avenue remain unbeaten in six league games and named an unchanged starting eleven for the short trip to Nethermoor. However, Deacey felt his side were fortunate to leave Guiseley AFC with three points:
“I’m happy with the result but not with the way we played. The better team did not win the game of football.”
The Avenue manager was frustrated with the performance but remembered the fixture that took place on Boxing Day last season at Nethermoor:
“Last season, we maybe should’ve won that game but we lost it 1-0. Tonight, I think that may have been our worst performance of the season but we won 2-0.”
On Saturday, the Avenue face an unbeaten Solihull Moors side at the Horsfall Stadium and Deacey admits there is still improvement needed from his squad:
“It keeps the run going. We are climbing up the table and going in the right direction but we have to work on it.”
