Deacey: 'Became Men Tonight'

Following the 1-0 win against Workington AFC, John Deacey spoke to the official website.

The Avenue manager was delighted with the three points:

‘We were excellent. It was better than Saturday, without being disrespectful to Droylsden, the game was finished after 30 minutes. Tonight, we had to think about it and work hard to grind the result out. They became men tonight.’

Meanwhile, Deacey was happy with the overall team performance against the Reds:

‘I thought (Nathan) Hotte, Scooby (Richard Marshall) and Jordan (Deacey) worked so hard in the second half. I think (Jamie) Pricey has been solid since he has come back. Adam Clayton was not having the greatest of times, but he scored a fine goal. Also, we had Alex (Davidson) and Wakka (Paul Walker) working hard in the wing areas.’

Despite the victory, the Bradford manager was quick to praise Darren Edmondson’s men:

‘It was a great performance against a very accomplished Workington side who have drawn against Chester FC and have taken results off other teams. We dominated the possession but they looked dangerous on the break.’

Finally, Deacey refused to get carried away following four consecutive victories:

‘We take every game as it comes.’
