Deacey: 'An Absolute Disgrace'

Following his side’s defeat to Stafford Rangers, John Deacey spoke to Press Officer Lewis Sale.

The Avenue manager was fuming with the way his squad performed:

‘It was an absolute disgrace. They didn’t prepare themselves correctly, I think they are still playing Doncaster Rovers. I don’t know what the problem is. There were some shocking performances. I will take (James) Knowles, (Richard) Marshall and Jordan (Deacey) out for any praise. They were the only three to take any positives from the game, they are the only people certain of a shirt next time. The rest of the team were a disgrace.’

Also, Deacey made it clear that he was not expecting what he saw on Saturday afternoon:

‘I apologise to the supporters who came down because that was not good enough from one of my sides. We were second best to everything.’

Finally, the Bradford boss reiterated his frustration after crashing out of the FA Carlsberg Trophy:

‘I can compensate for the way I prepare the team. If I have not prepared the team correctly I will take responsibility. But, I did prepare them, I told them I didn’t want us to be slack, and in no uncertain terms I wanted a performance today. I didn’t get one, and I’m not very happy with that.’
