John Deacey saw his side win for the fourth consecutive match, defeating Gloucester City at the Horsfall Stadium.
The Avenue manager spoke to the media, and was pleased with the result:
‘It was a professional win today, I thought they (Gloucester City) didn’t create anything in the second half and we saw it out well, without being outstanding. In the opening 20-25 minutes, we were superb, I thought we would blow this game away, but, then we got sloppy. In the second half I thought we did well, and then Mr Marshall came up with the goods again. It was a great finish, and he could’ve had one earlier.’
Despite the result, Deacey admitted that the game could’ve been very different if the penalty was scored, and reserved praise for Tim Deasy:
‘I think so. The goal we conceded was a poor one to give away. We are giving away very sloppy goals. But, the goalkeeper did well. He is looking the business! Sometimes you have to praise people like that.’
Overall, Deacey seemed content at the final whistle, saying:
‘It was a good performance and it keeps the run going.’
