The Avenue striker Tom Corner spoke to Press Officer Lewis Sale after the defeat to Gloucester City.
The former Ossett Albion man felt his side were punished for their inability to convert first half chances:
‘We had a lot of possession in the first half, but, we were unable to score. When you come to a play on a surface like this (Abbey Business Stadium), we should be making the most of our chances. It feels like we threw it away today.’
The young striker admitted he feels he should have scored after his introduction in the second half:
‘I got the ball and took it around the defender. I didn’t go down in the box from a challenge because I felt I could score from the cross, but, I put it wide. I feel I should’ve better with that opportunity.’
Nonetheless, the recent arrival is hoping to force his way into contention for a starting place:
‘I still have some bruising on my ankle, but, I feel fitter now, so I will continue to work hard in training and hopefully I can get a chance.
