Tonight, Bradford (Park Avenue) welcome local neighbours Bradford City to the Horsfall Stadium, with kick-off at 7.30pm.
Both teams will be playing for the Tom Banks Memorial Trophy in the pre-season friendly as both Avenue and the Bantams prepare for the new 2014/15 campaign.
John Deacey is putting the final touches to his squad, which will include three former City players.
Chib Chilaka, Joe Colbeck and Scott Kerr are part of a new-look Avenue squad for the forthcoming season and could be involved in the pre-season friendly against the Bantams.
Chilaka, who has recently signed a one-year deal after an impressive debut season, admits pre-season has been a good workout:
“Pre-season has been tough, especially with the recent weather conditions but collectively we’ve tried to adapt to it which will hopefully benefit us in moderate conditions.
I’m very excited by the additions we’ve made to the team. We can be vocally quiet on the pitch sometimes but we’ve signed characters that can play but are vocal and help organise games.
I’m looking forward to playing City, they will always have a place in my heart because of my time there and it’s a good personal test to see how I’ve grown as a player since then. More importantly, it’s a great test for us at this late stage of pre-season because we will have to be a lot sharper and dig a lot deeper to put a performance against higher league opposition that are also building to the new season.”
