Bradford (Park Avenue) extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a draw against Solihull Moors at the Horsfall Stadium.
Marcus Bignot’s men took an early lead as Omar Bogle was alert to a defensive error to fire the ball into the roof of the net. Furthermore, Bogle added a second goal for the Moors from the penalty spot. However, a 30 yard strike from Paul Walker reduced the visitors’ lead before half time. During the second half, the Avenue equalised as Nicky Boshell struck a left-footed effort past Moors goalkeeper Jasbir Singh.
Despite an early attempt from Alex Davidson, the home side conceded an early goal. A cross into the penalty area was cleared by James Knowles into the feet of Omar Bogle. The striker held off a challenge from Steve Mallory and struck a powerful shot past the Avenue goalkeeper John Lamb.
Ten minutes later, the Avenue conceded a penalty. Again, Bogle was causing problems and the striker went down following a foul from midfielder Richard Marshall. The referee pointed to the penalty spot, and Bogle converted.
Shortly after, the home side responded. A long ball from the Avenue defence was not cleared by the visitors. With the goalkeeper off his line, the ball was struck by Paul Walker from 30 yards into the unguarded net.
HALF TIME: BRADFORD (PARK AVENUE) 1-2 SOLIHULL MOORS
After the break, the away side nearly regained a two goal lead. The Moors right back Michael Nottingham struck a left-footed effort from 25 yards, but his shot was deflected wide.
However, the Avenue equalised from a fine move. After losing possession, Nathan Hotte won the ball back and spotted his winger Chib Chilaka. The number seven kept hold of the ball and then picked out Nicky Boshell, who struck a left-footed shot from 20 yards past Singh into the bottom corner.
Then, Boshell missed an opportunity to give the Avenue the lead. A quick free-kick saw Chilaka gain possession, and his cross was met by Boshell, but with the goalkeeper off his line, Boshell’s header went wide from ten yards.
John Deacey’s men continued to look for a third goal but, good defending from the Moors denied the home side. A through ball was controlled by Marshall, and with Singh awaiting a shot, an excellent tackle from the defence prevented the midfielder an attempt on goal.
But, Stuart Pierpoint came close to scoring a late goal for the visitors. A free-kick from Peter Till found the unmarked centre back, but his header went wide of Lamb’s post from eight yards.
With full time approaching, the Avenue were creating opportunities to try and secure a late victory. However, Singh produced two excellent saves to deny the Avenue their fourth consecutive win.
Firstly, Chilaka provided another delivery into the penalty area, but Walker’s volley was saved by Singh from 12 yards.
Then, a free-kick from Lamb was headed by substitute Tom Corner to Chilaka, and his flick was met by Knowles from close range. But somehow, Singh produced a superb block to divert the ball wide.
