Despite joining the club in December, Paul Beesley made his home debut for the Avenue in their 6-1 victory against Worcester City and the striker spoke to the official website.
Following a five match losing run in the league, Beesley was delighted with the performance and result:
“It was a great result. We have been unlucky in the past few games and we went 1-0 down early on which didn’t look good. But, the lads played well and we were sharp up front, I just had to stand in the middle and I felt the ball would come to me!”
Since his debut in the defeat to Histon FC, the striker is already proving popular with some supporters with his workmanlike performances, and Beesley is hoping to improve with further games:
“I will get better as I get fitter and hopefully stay injury-free.”
Meanwhile, Beesley admits he is settling into life at the Horsfall Stadium and is hoping to see his new club climb up The Skrill North:
“The lads have been great. The results haven’t been great and that’s been disappointing. We have to go on a run, it’s the start of a new year and we can kick on from here and keep picking points up.”
