Following the 3-0 victory against Histon FC, the Avenue manager John Deacey was pleased with his team’s performance.
Deacey, who made only one change from the side that won at Workington AFC, as James Knowles replaced the suspended Ryan Qualter, praised the attitude of his squad:
“We were professional from 1-14 because Histon FC are always an enthusiastic side and it was their cup final. We restricted their chances and I don’t think John Lamb had to made a save. Our attitude was great and the win was thoroughly deserved.”
Also, the Avenue boss reserved extra credit to three individual players for their contribution:
“Paul Walker was excellent, Chib (Chilaka) took his goals well and (James) Knowles returned to the side and he was awesome. We played with a smile on our faces today.”
With only three games left, the Avenue manager recognises the importance of finishing the season well:
“Next week we go to Barrow and we will see if we can get past them. After, there are two more cup finals when we play Stalybridge Celtic and Oxford City.”
